New impetus for faster times
Joanna Murphy is currently looking for a new job as a corporate lawyer. That's why she has a lot of time to run. "I don't have a specific goal at the moment. I really enjoy running without pressure and without a training plan," says the Englishwoman, who lives in Cham. She laces up her running shoes four to five times a week, often together with her daughter.
Yoga and cycling
Even though Joanna Murphy has no competitions in her sights, she wants to improve her times from last year at the Zug Trophy. And she regularly manages to do so. Jo has been training with the Cham running group for almost two years, where she feels very comfortable. "Everyone is friendly and patient with my bad Swiss German," smiles Murphy. Thanks to interval training, she is faster, especially over the short distances. This year, Murphy discovered yoga for herself. "I think it's great and it's incredibly good for me." She now also cycles from time to time. "I have the feeling that I need to incorporate new things into my training to get faster," says the athlete. This now includes stabilization and fitness training.
Perhaps Lucerne
Jo Murphy is not completely aimless after all. "Maybe I'll take part in the Swiss City Marathon in Lucerne again. I ran a new personal best half marathon time there last year." Murphy took part in a project run by a young club colleague. She dealt with the topic of training planning as part of her A-level thesis. As a result, Joanna Murphy did more long, slow runs. "I wasn't used to running slowly. Training runs in the low heart rate range were completely new to me." The new method has had a correspondingly positive effect on her performance. The Trophy continues on August 10 - also for Joanna Murphy.
