On the opening tour with the Pauwerbikers

The Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy started last weekend. With around 150 starters at the Running Trophy in Steinhausen and 50 starters at the Mountain Trophy in Auw, we had a brilliant start. Also on the road: the Pauwerbikers.
On each stage, a club ensures that the markings are correct and that the times on the stamp cards are read in as quickly as possible. In Auw and on the way up the Horben, the Pauwerbiker keep an eye on things. "Saturday, 1.30 pm in Auw be de Chile, opening tour in Horbe via Zuger-Trophy Strecki, very cozy." This invitation from Pauwerbiker manager Andi Amstutz went not only to us, but also to Peter. He made a note of the date. The weekend was simply fantastic.
Pauwerbiker?
The Pauwerbikers are just under twenty men and a good twelve women - without a club statute. The ladies meet on Tuesday mornings. The men go out on Thursday evenings, sometimes accompanied by the ladies. How did it all begin? Astrid Stecher put up an advertisement in the grocery store looking for cycling companions. She didn't receive a reply to the ad until a year later. From then on, she was out and about regularly, first with one and soon with several colleagues. Later, the men joined them and today they not only go out together, but also go on a three- to four-day bike trip once a year. "In winter, we Bikeladys go running. The men treat themselves to a break," says Astrid over a holdrio in the pub on the Horben. The four Pauwerbikers have conviviality written all over their faces. If the "Quer durch Zug" had not taken place on the same day, the group would have been larger. However, as the next generation of Pauwerbikers were at the start in Zug, support was needed there.
Latest stage of the Mountain Trophy
The stage on the Horben has been part of the Mountain Trophy since 2015. Thanks to Andi Amstutz. He heard about the stage up the Michaelskreuz from a friend. "I was immediately enthusiastic and wanted to bring the idea to Freiamt," says Andi. At the same time, the creators of the project were looking for a sixth and final Mountain Trophy stage. Andi's contact with project manager Reto Benz was therefore a real stroke of luck. Without the battle on the Horben, the Trophy would definitely be missing something today.
