Running school and stage changes
Urs Sidler, Managing Director of Intersport Meli, (far right) also hones his running style at the Zuger Trophy workshop.
The Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy has been based in the Aegeri Valley since Monday. With the lap around Lake Aegeri and the six kilometers on the rates, the Trophy enters the final spurt of 2018. Shortly before the changeover, stage sponsor Intersport Meli invited participants to a running shoe test including running training.
The free running workshop was initiated by Urs Sidler, Managing Director of Intersport Meli. He is delighted to be able to offer running training in addition to the shoe test. Angi and Fabienne from TSV 2001 Rotkreuz will show which exercises can be used to acquire a running style that saves energy and is therefore more economical. The five to six standard exercises can be found in every training book. Nevertheless, many runners neglect this important part of their training. Angi, the sprint specialist, explains: "These exercises teach the body how to move faster with less force." Fabienne, who mainly runs middle distances, adds: "But remember, it takes time. That's why it's important to incorporate running training into your training at least once a week. And that over the years."
1000 times?
Around 950 times were recorded at the Running Trophy in Ägeri last year. As with all stages, the medium distance of 3.9 kilometers is the most popular in Ägeri Valley, even if it is not without its 110 meters of elevation gain. The short loop measures 2.4 kilometers and the long loop around the lake 17.2 kilometers. The weather in the start week is perfect. Will it be enough for 1000 times this year? We'll find out on Friday, October 5 at 4 pm. Then the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy 2018 will be history.
Longest mountain stage
At six kilometers, the route from Oberägeri to Raten is by far the longest mountain stage. Will there still be new course records? That too will be revealed at the end of the stage on October 5.
