Second stage ends with four track records
A new participation record was set at the finish on the Michaelskreuz with 983 times recorded.
The second stage of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy ended last Sunday. Despite the mud, record times were run in the Höllgrottentobel.
On the Baar stage, the shoes only remained more or less clean on the short route. Anyone who had run the medium or long distance in the last few days became a cross-country runner. Once again, Philipp Arnold from Cham was the measure of all things. He ran the best time over all distances. On the long course, he even improved his course record by almost a minute to 56:08 minutes despite the difficult conditions. Sara Zurfluh from Baar was the fastest woman over the 2.7 kilometers with 12:39 minutes. Denise Sternlicht, also from Baar, won after a stage victory in 2021 in a time of 36:11 min over the medium distance of 7.2 kilometers. There was also a new women's course record over the 14.5 kilometers. Doris Nagel-Wallimann improved her time by almost two minutes to 1:04:37 h.
Participation record at Michel
After winning the first stage, Kevin Züricher from Zug is also the fastest racing cyclist from Root up to Michaelskreuz. In 11:52 minutes - just one second slower than his course record from last year - he takes the lead. Claudia Sutter remains unbeaten in the women's category with a time of 14:34 minutes. The fastest mountain bikers were Urs Huber in 12:23 min and Janina Wüst in 16:25 min. Wüst thus improved her own course record by 23 seconds. The fourth course record goes to Myriam Keiser from Rotkreuz. She runs the mountain course in 19:27 min, five seconds faster than last year. Philipp Arnold also wins here, in 16:45 min.
Despite the uncomfortable weather, the number of start times is impressive: There was even a record number of 983 starters on the mountain stage. There were a good 100 more starts than last year. There were also more runners and walkers at the start in Baar for the first time.
From Monday until Sunday, June 18, 2023, the stages 03_Ennetsee with start at the Hünenberger Badi and 03_Zug-Zugerberg will now run.
