"The ideal alternative training."
Rolf Beck "discovers" the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy.
Rolf Beck, member of the board of Sportclub (SC) Steinhausen, normally goes to the gym three times a week. Now he has discovered the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy.
"I'm actually more of a cyclist. Jogging is less my thing," says Rolf Beck, who is responsible for match operations at SC Steinhausen as SPIKO. But as he can't go to the gym at the moment, he is trying out new things. He finds running to be a better full-body workout than cycling. Although the 59-year-old lives in Steinhausen, Rolf Beck is running his first Trophy round this spring. Adrian Krahn, the former president of Sportclub Cham, got him started. The football fans run the 8.4-kilometre loop together.
Man for the organizational side
Rolf Beck joined the board three years ago. Although he coached juniors a good 10 years ago, he was then away from the club for years, or only on the pitch as a spectator. His daughter Renja was crazy about football. Now 23, she made it all the way to the National League A. His son Raphael (20) still plays for SC Steinhausen. As a result, Rolf Beck spent a lot of time "hanging around" on the pitch. When he was asked to join the board, he accepted without hesitation. Today, he is responsible for all organizational matters at the club with 17 teams. He coordinates match and championship schedules, who trains where and when, and which equipment is used where and when. In times of the coronavirus crisis, this is also a task with many uncertain parameters.
Enthusiastic about the project
After the Trophy premiere through the Steinhauser Forest, Rolf Beck is delighted: "A really great concept that I will definitely recommend to my club colleagues as an alternative training option." All you have to do is follow the markings and you can switch off completely. "Yes, that probably wasn't my last round on the Zuger Trophy," says a visibly satisfied Rolf Beck.
Tip: Fresh air and exercise are good for you, but run alone. Continue to follow the recommendations of the federal government.
