Training for the most beautiful running festival in Central Switzerland
Doris Nagel-Wallimann is training for the Zugerberg Finance Trophy to run at the front of the pack again at the SwissCityMarathon in Lucerne.
On October 30, 2022, the time has come again: the starting gun will be fired for the 15th SwissCityMarathon in Lucerne.
Last week, we experienced a brief autumn moment - the first meteorological signs that the Lucerne running festival is not too far away. Those who prepare seriously have already been following a training plan for the chosen distance for a month. You can compete in Lucerne over 10 kilometers, the half marathon over 21.1 kilometers or the marathon over the full 42.2 kilometers - with a change of route; on the first lap, a new section of 3.1 kilometers is covered in the municipality of Horw. The turning point for the marathon runners will therefore move from the previous location just before the finish at the Museum of Transport to the Hofkirche in the center of Lucerne. This means that the runners will turn around at the biggest spectator hotspot and can start the second lap with plenty of support.
To imitate
A lap of the current, long Trophy stage from Zug via Cham-Bibersee-Steinhausen-Blickensdorf back to Zug is the ideal way to prepare to shine in Lucerne. The lap measures 16.8 kilometers and 170 meters in altitude. If you tackle two laps, you have a juicy long jog in your legs and have mentally completed the same lap twice. Or you can do it like the current fastest Trophy runner Doris Nagel-Wallimann, who is also preparing for the marathon in Lucerne. She reports on Instagram: "Back at the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy after the summer break ... to warm up, I completed the 16.8 km route as a nice endurance run in the rain and then picked up the pace on the middle section (5.9 km). It went wonderfully, as planned". Imitation desired!
If you prefer to train in a group, you can take part in a free 21.1-kilometer training session on the original route on Sunday, 2 October 2022. It starts with pacemakers at 6.30 am at the Verkehrshaus. Registration is not necessary.
