Trophy start in Steinhausen and at Horben
Photo: The first stage with its beautiful forest and meadow paths through the Steinhauser Wald forest is one of the most popular with many runners.
The first of six stages of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy starts next Saturday, March 23. The beautiful laps through the Steinhauser Wald forest and a gentler route from Auw to Horben are tempting.
The time has finally come and the anniversary edition of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy has officially begun. Before we take a look at the upcoming stages, let's take a look back at the "pre-start". This is where the kilometer hunt began on 24 February. The numbers are impressive: Three quarters of the way through, over 260 participants have already started a good 1080 times! Just one week before the end, this means more than 20 percent more starters compared to the previous year, each running an average of four laps.

Things really get going on Saturday. The beautiful circular routes in the Steinhausen forest measure 2.8 km, 8.4 km and 12.3 km. The new stage organizers Regula and Patrik Gander from TV Steinhausen Allsport are enthusiastic: "The hilly routes impress with their views and a pleasant mix of field and forest paths." Steinhausen is the most popular of the long stages. It has recorded by far the most starts to date. If you want to run the first lap with like-minded people, meet at the Trophy start on Saturday, March 23 at 9 a.m. for the joint opening run over the 8.4 kilometers.
The Auw wall is gone
Those who prefer a more challenging profile can start on the mountain route from Auw to Horben. The climb, which was reverently referred to in the cycling community as "the wall of Auw", is now bypassed. This means that even less experienced riders can master the route and then stop for refreshments on the Horben or simply enjoy the beautiful view over the Reuss valley and into the Alps. Andi Amstutz from the Pauwerbikers, who is responsible for the stage, comments: "The slightly changed route and the continued changes in rhythm make the stage even more attractive. We will be delighted if even more cycling fans find their way to us." In addition to the racing bike, mountain bike and gravel categories, the mountain route can also be completed on foot. Over a distance of 5.2 kilometers, 330 meters of altitude have to be overcome. Details at zugerbergfinanz-trophy.ch
